Regular readers will be aware that since this blog’s inception I have been on a quest to find a great macaron in Melbourne. Thus far, it has been reasonably unsuccessful and the general vibe of my macaron reviews has been disappointment and as some have put it, negativity. All of this from a person who has admitted to making a crap macaron themselves. Hmmmm.

But fear not, dear readers, for I have found a macaron that lived up to my lofty standards!

On my birthday a couple of weeks ago, I arrived at work to find a little gift of a macaron from my lovely workmate S. The macaron in question was from Chimmy’s, a place I have previously reviewed in relation to macarons. Last time the general consensus was ‘meh’, but this one was anything but.

Asides from being so cute in its heart shaped form, this macaron ticked all the boxes – smooth, bright looking shell, ‘feet’, flavoursome filling, a slight resistance in the shell when biting in, but soft and light underneath. Yum!

  1. have you tried La Parisiene in Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn?
Their macarons are the best one you can get in Melbourne… I think.

No I haven’t tried there but will give it a go – it’s tough to find a good one. Cacao in St Kilda is also on the macarons to try list…. Thanks for the tip!!
